fresh install Raspberry Pi 5 Ubuntu desktop 24.10 errors

having trouble with Ubuntu desktop 24.1 worked fine on Kubuntu.

I think it is an error in the makefile. On a fresh Raspbian I followed the instructions in the documentation and got the same error. I got it working by adding --with-systemdsystemunitdir=/lib/systemd/system to the configure command. Verify your systemd path if you are on another distribution.

Thanks for the suggestions, @no-gram , but we found out that there was a change in the libraries in Ubuntu 24.10. The suggested solution is to attempt to install systemd-dev:

# apt install --no-install-recommends systemd-dev # it's okay if this fails because the package doesn't exist
